Vestries & Cupboards

Storage for all the items required regularly for services and events by clergy, choirs and staff is crucial to the smooth and efficient performance of their duties. Every church presents different needs and challenges and Treske’s designers and craftsmen have risen to them.

Whilst regarding the integrity of historic fabric as paramount, they have been able to make and fit cupboards that match existing furniture and design and make new shelving or fitments where required, always after detailed discussions with church architects, Diocesan authorities, clergy and congregations.

St Hilda’s, Hartlepool
New oak cupboards were added to an original base. Matching style, patination and replica metalwork while fitting it exactly to irregular masonry took great skill and attention to detail.

Sinnington Church
A general storage and working area of cupboards and shelves in oak was fitted so that it stands off the walls. A small kitchen was incorporated and space for flower arrangers and their equipment.

St Anne’s, Catterick
Fitted behind and to match the organ casing, allowing for access to the instrument for maintenance, cupboards and shelves were specially designed for storing vestments and other items of church equipment.

St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle
Treske made a cupboard in which to keep the catafalque or bier used only for Royal funerals. Treske also adapted an cupboard for the safe keeping of a crozier.
