St Paul’s Chapel, Leominster

"Qui se humilat exaltibur" which quotes Jesus' words in the Gospels, "He who humbleth himself shall be exalted."

Treske's brief was to provide seating for up to sixteen with the capacity to extend to twenty-four, with an altar as the central focus. All the furniture makes an eloquent case for 21st century style and craftsmanship in an historic setting.

The bench seating, kneelers and readers, credence table, lectern and celebrants chair are all portable and capable of being arranged in various combinations. The circle of seats, emphasising the equality of all present, are paired, with gaps between them, which also allows the altar to be visible from other parts of the church. Each of the eight curved upholstered benches in English Oak seats two people for prayer and three for meetings.

Light and colour was incorporated into the altar through the use of sycamore and cherry and an inset stained glass roundel designed by Steve Collins illuminated from below.

The celebrant's chair has a carved inscription from the church's seal, carved by one of Treske's many skilled craftsmen.
